JAKARTA (MKRI) – The Constitutional Court (MK) dismissed the petition for case No. 15/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025 on the 2024 Langsa City mayoral election results dispute filed by Candidate Pair 3 Maimul Mahdi-Nurzahri. The ruling hearing was chaired by Chief Justice Suhartoyo and other eight constitutional justices on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
In the legal considerations read out by Constitutional Justice Ridwan Mansyur, the Court stated that the Court had no reason to disregard Article 158 of Law No. 10 of 2016 (Regional Election Law) relating to the Petitioners’ legal standing as a formal requirement to file a petition to challenge the regional election results.
“There is no relevance in continuing the a quo petition to the evidentiary hearing as without the evidentiary hearing, the Court believes that the stages of the 2024 Langsa City mayoral election have been carried out as per the stages and provisions,” said Justice Ridwan.
Justice Ridwan revealed that the Petitioners gained 20,591 votes and the Relevant Party received 31,916 votes. Therefore, the vote difference was 11,325 votes or 14.36%.

At the preliminary hearing on January 9, 2025, the Petitioners argued that Candidate Pair 2 Jeffry Sentana S. Putra and M. Haikal Alfisyahrin had committed structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) violations in the 2024 Langsa City mayoral election including mobilization of civil servants and acting village heads as well as vote buying. The violation led to a significant vote difference of 11,325 votes.
