JAKARTA (MKRI) – The Constitutional Court (MK) held a preliminary hearing for case No. 15/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025 concerning the 2024 Langsa City mayoral election results dispute filed by Candidate Pair 03 Maimul Mahdi-Nurzahri. It was presided over by the Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra and the Constitutional Justice Ridwan Mansyur and Arsul Sani on Panel 2 on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
The Petitioners’ legal counsel Ata Azhari requested the Court to annul the Decree of Langsa City Independent Elections Commission (Langsa City KIP) No. 555 of 2024 concerning the certification of the 2024 Langsa City mayoral election results, released on December 2, 2024 at 1:55 PM Local Time.
The reason is that Candidate Pair 02 Jeffry Sentana S Putra and M. Haikal Alfisyahrin (Jeffry-Haikal) as the most-voted candidates had committed structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) violations in the 2024 Langsa City mayoral election. The violations include mobilization of civil servants and acting village heads as well as vote buying.
“Candidate Pair 02 committed structured, systematic, and massive violations and frauds that involved civil servants and acting village heads to influence voters to vote for Candidate Pair 02 as well as the unlawful acts of promising and giving money and/or goods to voters,” stated Ata when reading out the argument.
The Petitioners argued that the implication of those violations was a significant vote margin of 11,325 votes. They also said that the violations had benefitted Jeffy-Haikal across five districts in Langsa City, with a total votes of 40%.
“The difference of 11,325 votes between the Petitioners and the party declared to have received the most votes, which is Candidate Pair 02, was obtained due to several structured, systematic and massive (TSM) violations and fraud,” Ata added.
Further, Ata revealed the massive money politics committed by Jeffry-Haikal. “[The practice] spread to almost all polling stations in Langsa City, Your Honors,” he asserted.
