JAKARTA, MKRI - On behalf of the general Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Langsa City, legal counsel Fauzi Fazhari answering the Petitioner's argument regarding alleged violations of money politics in a structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) manner in the 2024 Langsa Mayor Election. This was conveyed in the hearing of Case No. 15/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025 on Monday, January 20, 2025. The agenda of this hearing was to hear the Respondent’s response and testimonies by the Relevant Party and Bawaslu (Elections Supervisory Body) as well as the validation of the Parties' Evidence.

Fauzi said that the Petitioner had reported the alleged violation of money politics to the Langsa City Bawaslu. However, the report was not followed up/dismissed by Bawaslu Langsa City because it could not be proven.

“The Langsa City Voter Supervisory Committee (Panwaslih) issued a report status notification form on December 6, 2024, stating that the report was dismissed due to insufficient evidence,” said Fauzi.

Fauzi also explained that the Langsa City Bawaslu had taken precautions by issuing an appeal letter regarding the prohibition of Candidate Pairs, Campaign Teams, Members of Political Parties and/or Joint Political Parties, Volunteers, and other Parties to promise or give money or other materials that can influence election organizers or voters as a reward.

During the hearing, the Langsa City KPU stated that the Respondent had never received any advice or recommendations from Bawaslu Langsa City during the implementation of the 2024 Langsa City Mayor Election. This was conveyed by Chairul Azmi, the Respondent's legal counsel, in response to a question from Constitutional Justice Saldi Isra.

The Respondent and The Relevant Party requested that the Court reject the Petitioners’ petition in its entirety and affirm the validity of the Langsa City KPU Decree on the certification of the 2024 Langsa Mayor Election Results.

The Relevant Party's legal counsel, Muslim A. Gani, stated that there was no turmoil or unrest before or after the 2024 Langsa Mayoral Election. This indicates that the election proceeded smoothly and in accordance with the established plan.

“Both before and after the Regional Head Election in Langsa city [everything] was in a conducive condition,” stated Gani.

Therefore, the Relevant Party in its petitum requests the Court to reject the Petitioner's petition in its entirety and declare the Respondent's Decision on the Certification of the 2024 Langsa Mayor Election Results as true and valid.

The Petitioners's arguments for asking the Court to annul the Decision of the KIP of Langsa City is because Candidate Number 2 Jeffry Sentana S Putra and M. Haikal Alfisyahrin (Jeffry-Haikal), who won the most votes, committed violations that were in a structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) manner. These violations include the involvement of ASN and Acting Village Head and Money Politics.
