JAKARTA (MKRI) — On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the Constitutional Court (MK) dismissed the petition during the ruling hearing on the 2024 Intan Jaya regent election results dispute. This case was filed by candidate pair 5 Bernadus Kobogau-Melianus Agimbau. Chief Justice Suhartoyo presided over the ruling hearing.
"In the petition’s subject matter, [the Court] declares the Petitioners’ petition for case No. 301/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 inadmissible," said Chief Justice Suhartoyo alongside the other eight constitutional justices.
In its legal considerations, read by Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat, the Court explained that the petition failed to meet the formal requirements. In particular, the arguments were deemed unclear or vague, leading the Court to determine that the Respondent and the Relevant Party’s exceptions were legally justified.
"Referring to the legal considerations above, the Court believed that the Petitioners’ petition is vague and therefore other exceptions, the Respondent's response, the testimony of the Relevant Party and Bawaslu (election supervisory body), and the petition’s subject matter are not considered further," said Justice Arief.

Intan Jaya KPU Accused of Secretly Certifying Elected Candidate
At the preliminary hearing on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the Petitioners alleged a voting recapitulation error in eight districts which led to a vote reduction.
The Petitioners alleged that the Intan Jaya KPU engaged in structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) violations by manipulating the vote count to disadvantage or benefit certain candidate pairs. In its petitums, they requested that the Court order the Intan Jaya KPU to conduct a recount or verify the data by comparing the C-Results at the polling stations with the recapitulation results in eight districts.
