Court Dismisses Kerinci Regent Election Results Dispute

JAKARTA (MKRI) — On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the Constitutional Court (MK) dismissed the petition for case No. 126/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 on the 2024 Kerinci regent election results dispute. The ruling for the petition, filed by candidate pair 2 (Tafyani Kasim and Ezi Kurniawan), was delivered by Chief Justice Suhartoyo along with the other eight constitutional justices.

In its legal considerations, delivered by Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra, the Court asserted that the Petitioner did not satisfy the formal requirements for filing the petition. As such, the Court declared the Petitioners’ petition obscured.

Chief Justice Saldi stated The Court viewed that the Petitioners’ petition obscured, as such, other exceptions, the Respondent's response, the Related Party’s statement, Elections Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) statement, and the petition’s subject matter would not be further considered.

“Other arguments and matters would not further be considered as they are irrelevant,” emphasized Chief Justice Saldi.

At the preliminary hearing on January 10, 2024, the Petitioners stated that ASN support for Candidate Pair 03 was demonstrated through active participation in the campaign and efforts to encourage the community to vote for the pair. Additionally, they highlighted that ASN support was evident on social media, which was used as a platform to publicly endorse Candidate Pair 03.
