JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) granted the Petitioners’ request to withdraw the petition for case No. 50/PHPU.WAKO-XXXIII/2025 on the 2024 Sawahlunto mayoral election results dispute. The decree for the petition’s withdrawal, filed by Mayor Candidate Pair 2 Deri Asta dan Desni Seswinari, was delivered by Chief Justice Suhartoyo. In front of the attendance, Chief Justice Suhartoyo stated that the justice deliberation meeting taking place on January 30, 2025 concluded that the withdrawal is reasonable according to the law.
"[The Court adjudicated] that the Petitioners cannot re-file the petition and orders the Registrar's Office to return the petition copies to the Petitioners," said Chief Justice Suhartoyo alongside the other eight constitutional justices.

Absent, Petitioners of Sawahlunto Election Dispute Withdraw Petition
The revocation of the petition was filed directly by Afriendi Sikumbang as the Petitioner’s legal counsel in the hearing held in the Plenary Room on Friday morning, January 10, 2025. The Petitioners initially filed the petition for cancellation of the Sawahlunto City General Election Commission Decree Number 579 of 2024 concerning the Certification of the Election Results of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Sawahlunto City Year 2024 dated December 3, 2024. However, in the preliminary hearing, the petition was declared revoked or withdrawn. In the petition, the Petitioner alleged that the other party conducted money politics in several areas, including Kolok Village, Barangin District and West Lunto Village, Lembah Segar District. There were two pairs of candidates participating in the 2024 Sawahlunto mayoral election, namely candidate pair number 01 Riyanda Putra - Jefry Hibatullah and candidate pair number 02 Deri Asta - Desni Seswinari.
