JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) has approved the withdrawal of the Case No. 10/PHPU.BUP-XXXIII/2025 on the Pangandaran Regency regent election results dispute on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. This case was filed by candidate pair 2 Ujang Endin Indrawan and Dadang Solihat. Chief Justice Suhartoyo delivered the ruling in the plenary courtroom, stating that based on the justice deliberation meeting, the Petitioners’ withdrawal request was reasonable according to law.

“And the Petitioners may not re-file the a quo petition and [the Court] orders the Registrar’s Office to return copies of the petition documents to the Petitioners,” said Chief Justice Suhartoyo accompanied by the other eight constitutional justices.

At the preliminary hearing on January 8, 2025, the Petitioners requested the Court to annul the Decree of the Pangandaran Regency KPU (Election Commission) No. 750 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 Pangandaran regent-vice regent election results. However, on December 13, 2024, the Petitioners’ legal counsel Wawan Suprawan submitted a petition withdrawal letter to the Court.

The Petitioners argued in their petition that the violations committed by regent-vice regent candidate pair 1 Citra Pitriyami-Ino Darsono (Relevant Party) had resulted in the Petitioners’ loss. This is because former Pangandaran regent Jeje Wiradinata as well as West Java governor candidate and Pangandaran Regency PDI-P (Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle) chairperson were in the Relevant Party’s campaign team. The Petitioners alleged there have been violations in order for the Relevant Party to meet their political ambition as an undefeated “political legend” in East Priangan. As reported by jabar.tribunnews.com, Jeje Wiradinata distributed incentives for heads of neighborhood units (RT) and community units (RW) before the certification of Pangandaran regent-vice regent election results. Meanwhile, Pangandaran regent candidate, Citra Pitriyami was allegedly committed vote-buying in Cimerak District as stated in Report No. 014/PL/PB/Kab/13.27/XI/2024.

The Petitioners also requested the Court to disqualify the regent-vice regent candidate pair 1 Citra Pitriyami and Ino Darsono, and declare candidate pair 2 Ujang Endin Indrawan-Dadang Solihat the elected regent-vice regent, or to conduct a revote in seven districts: Padaherang, Mangunjaya, Klipucang, Sidamulih, Pangandaran, Parigi, and Cimerak.
