JAKARTA (MKRI) – The Constitutional Court (MK) granted the Petitioners’ request to withdraw the petition for case No. 18/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025 on the 2024 Parepare mayoral election results dispute. The decree for the petition’s withdrawal, filed by candidate pair 04 Erna Rasyid Taufan-M. Rahmad Sjamsu Alam, was delivered by Chief Justice Suhartoyo alongside the other eight constitutional justices.

Before the verdict was read, Constitutional Justice Enny Nurbaningsih explained that the Court had hold a justice deliberation meeting on January 30, 2025. The Court concluded that the withdrawal request was considered legally justified and the Petitioners are not allowed to re-submit the petition.

“[The Court] grants the Petitioners’ request to withdraw the petition No. 18/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025,” said Suhartoyo at the ruling hearing on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

At the preliminary hearing on Friday, January 10, candidate pair 4 Erna Rasyid Taufan-M Rahmat Sjamsu Alam (Petitioners) withdrew their petition. In the petitums, they challenged mayor candidate 3 Tasming’s junior and senior high school diplomas for the registration of the Parepare mayoral candidacy.

His junior high school diploma indicates that he graduated in 2000, while he started high school in 2003. The Petitioners suspected that the candidate, who received 38,423 votes in the mayoral election, had studied in senior high school for five years.
