JAKARTA (MKRI) — On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Constitutional Court (MK) has made a ruling on the 2024 Probolinggo mayoral election results dispute case No. 204/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025. It decided to grant the Petitioners’ request to withdraw the petition. The decree was delivered at a ruling hearing chaired by Chief Justice Suhartoyo, accompanied by the other eight constitutional justices.

“[The Court] grants the Petitioners’ request to withdraw the petition case No. 204/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025,” said Chief Justice Suhartoyo delivering the verdict in the plenary courtroom.

Such a decree, said Chief Justice Suhartoyo, was a conclusion of the justice deliberation meeting (RPH) last Thursday, January 30, 2025. Thereby, the Petitioner, an observer of the Probolinggo mayoral election represented by Saparuddin, may not resubmit a similar petition to the Court. Subsequently, the Court will return copies of the petition to the Petitioner through the Registrar’s Office.

Election Observer Withdraws Petition on Probolinggo Mayor Election Dispute

At the previous hearing on Thursday, January 9, 2025, Saparuddin, an election observer, alleged several things in his petition, including structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) violations in the regional election.

However, he then formally withdrew the petition at a hearing on Monday, January 20, 2025. The hearing was intended to hear responses/testimonies from the Respondent (General Elections Commission/KPU), the Relevant Party, and Bawaslu (Elections Supervisory Body), as well as to validate evidence.
