JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) has made a ruling on the 2024 Deiyai regent election results dispute on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. It decided to grant the Petitioners’ request to withdraw the petition filed by candidate pair 3 Yan Ukago and Stefanus Mote.

“[The Court] grants the Petitioners’ request to withdraw the petition No. 197/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025,” said Chief Justice Suhartoyo delivering the verdict in the plenary courtroom along with the other eight constitutional justices.

Prior to the pronouncement of the decree, Constitutional Justice Enny Nurbaningsih stated that during a justice deliberation meeting on January 30, 2025, it had been concluded that the request to withdraw the case was reasonable according to law and the Petitioners cannot refile the a quo petition.

In their petition, the Petitioners explained that Deiyai Regency has a population of 104,610 people and 78,959 eligible voters. Based on these figures, the vote difference between the Petitioner and the leading candidates should be within 2 percent of the valid votes certified by the provincial/regency/city Elections Commission (KPU).

The Petitioner argued that the discrepancies between their records and those of Deiyai KPU (the Respondent) were due to errors in vote tabulation or potential manipulation in several districts.
