JAKARTA (MKRI) — Sumenep Regency Elections Commission/KPU (Respondent) denied the arguments of the petition with Case No. 206/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 alleging the lack of voting at several polling stations. The Respondent refuted the arguments of Regent Candidate Pair 1 Ali Fikri-Muh Unais Ali Hisyam (Petitioners) who claimed the polling station working committee (KPPS) conspired and recapitulated the ballots themselves for Candidate Pair 2 Achmad Fauzi Wongsojudo-Imam Hasyim (Relevant Party)
The Respondent stated that KPPS had carried out their duty at the polling stations accordingly, strengthened by the fact that no objection form was filed by the Petitioners' witnesses or polling station supervisory committee.
In the examination hearing to hear response from the Respondent, Relevant Party, and Election Supervisory Body held on Friday, January 17, 2025, the Respondent's legal counsel M. Hakim Yunizar stated "The Respondent has carried out the whole stages of the 2024 Sumenep regent election based on the principles of direct, public, free, confidential, honest, and fair."
The Relevant Party mentioned the Petitioners' petition submission date on December 10, 2024 as recorded on Electronic Petition Filing Receipt (e-APPP) No. 208/PAN.MK/e-AP3/12/2024. They argued that the Petitioners filed their petition past the deadline on December 9, since the KPU decree was issued on December 5, 2024 midnight.
Both the Respondent and the Relevant Party requested that the Court reject the Petitioners' petition in its entirety or at the least render it inadmissible. They also requested that the Court declare the Sumenep KPU Decree No. 2627 on the certification of the 2024 regent election results to be valid and legally binding. Moreover, the Relevant Party in their petitums requested the Court to declare them as the elected candidate pair.
At the same time, Sumenep Bawaslu member Moh Rusydi Zain ZA claimed to have conducted the violation handling process according to the applicable provisions. Each status and report in progress is always announced on their information board and relayed to the complainant and the reported either in person or through electronic or WhatsApp messages.

In their petitums, the Petitioners requested that the Court annul the Sumenep KPU Decree No.2527 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 regent election results dated December 25, 2024. They also petitioned that the Court disqualify Candidate Pair 2 Acmad Fauzi Wongsojudo-Imam Hasyim from the election or at the very least to instruct that Sumenep KPU conduct a revote in all of the polling stations in the regency without Fauzi-Hasyim.
