JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) approved the petition withdrawal of Case No. 80-02-04-12/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 on the 2024 election results dispute (PHPU). This case was filed by Teddy Luthfiana, a Golkar (Party of Functional Groups) legislative candidate number 2 of the Karawang Regency DPRD in electoral district 4.

“[The Court] approves the withdrawal of the Petitioner’s petition,” said Chief Justice Suhartoyo at a ruling hearing in the plenary courtroom on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Teddy filed a request for the petition’s withdrawal on March 27, 2024. At the preliminary hearing, legal counsel Gerry Leonard V. Langie also said that the dispute had been resolved internally within the party.

“Your Honors, we filed a withdrawal of the petition on March 27, 2024 due to the fact that it has been resolved internally,” said Gerry in front of Panel 1 led by Chief Justice Suhartoyo at the preliminary hearing on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Constitutional Justice Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh said that at the justice deliberation meeting (RPH), the Court decided that the request for the case’s withdrawal was legally warranted and the Petitioner cannot re-file the a quo petition. The Court has ordered the Chief Registrar to return copies of the case files to the Petitioner.

In his petition, the Petitioner argued that there was a transfer of 102 of Golkar’s votes to Golkar candidate number 1 in 42 polling stations. He requested that the Court annul the KPU Decree No. 360 on the certification of the results of the 2024 election and stipulate the correct vote count for the Petitioner in the electoral district of Karawang 6 as 5,114 votes.
