JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) held a hearing for the 2024 DPR/DPRD (House of Representatives/Regional Legislative Council) election results dispute on Wednesday, May 8 2024 The second session for Case No 123-02-16-34/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024, filed by Arianus Paressa, a legislative candidate for the Fakfak Regency DPRD from Fakfak 3 Electoral District, Candidate Number 3 of the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), was presided over by Panel 2–Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra along with Constitutional Justices Ridwan Mansyur and Arsul Sani.

The agenda included hearing the response from the respondent (General Elections Commission, KPU), statements from relevant parties, and remarks from the Elections Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), as well as the verification of evidence. Pither Ponda B., legal counsel for the respondent, addressed the petitioner’s claims about a discrepancy in vote tallies between Helda Y. Talla, Perindo candidate number 1, and the petitioner. According to the petitioner, the respondent's data showed 84 votes, whereas the petitioner's data counted 48 votes, leading to a discrepancy of 36 votes.

"This is not accurate because the recapitulation results from the C.Results in Kokas District, which includes 17 polling stations, confirmed the vote tally for Helda Y. Talla, Perindo candidate number 1, remained at 84 votes. Although there were suggestions from Bawaslu and objections from witnesses during the recapitulation process, all issues have been addressed," Pither explained.

Corrections Made

Meanwhile, Nurlaila Muhammad from the West Papua Provincial Bawaslu, in her statement, mentioned that the vote tally for the Perindo candidate in Kokas District, as per the data from the C.Results copy for the district-level DPRD at 17 polling stations, had been corrected at 9 polling stations. "Thus, Bawaslu has registered this report," Nurlaila concluded.
