JAKARTA (MKRI) — Arianus Paressa, a candidate number 3 for the Fakfak Regency Regional Legislative Council (DPRD Regency) from the United Indonesia Party (Perindo) in electoral district Fakfak 3 alleges an addition of 36 votes to the tally of a fellow Perindo candidate, Helda Y. Talla, number 1. These votes are suspected to have been taken from other parties' totals. Therefore, through his legal counsel, Handri Piter Poae, Arianus Paressa filed a petition to the Constitutional Court to annul the General Elections Commission (KPU) Decision No. 360 of 2024 announced on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. This preliminary hearing of the 2024 election results dispute was conducted by Panel 2, presided over by Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra, Ridwan Mansyur and Arsul Sani on Friday, May 3, 2024.
"The acquisition of these 36 votes comes from multiple sources, leading to an incorrect final count by the respondent. This candidate is adept at manipulating the vote count, adding to some parties while deducting from others. For example, 9 votes were added to the National Awakening Party (PKB) candidate number 3, changing the total from 331 to an official count of 388 votes. The largest number was taken from the Democratic Party (Democrat), up to 115 votes," stated the legal counsel.
On these grounds, the Petitioner in Case Number 123-02-16-34/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 requests that the Court establish the correct vote totals according to the original counts for each party in the Fakfak 3 of the Fakfak DPR Regency, specifically: Gerindra 1,349 votes, PKB 1,085 votes, Perindo 1,037 votes, Golkar 848 votes, and NasDem 916 votes.
