JAKARTA (MKRI) — The General Elections Commission (KPU) rejected all of the allegations on the 2024 election results dispute filed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). It stated that there was no vote discrepancy as argued by PDI-P and the National Awakening Party (PKB) in the DPRD election of West Sumatera Province electoral district (dapil) 4.

“However, the Petitioner still argues that there is a difference in votes based on provincial DPRD C copy form,” said the Petitioner’s legal counsel Yeffry Amazia Galla in the plenary courtroom of the Constitutional Court (MK) on Monday, May 6, 2024. The case No. 116-01-03/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 was heard on Panel 1 presided over by Chief Justice Suhartoyo with Constitutional Justices Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah.

Yeffry claimed that the KPU had revised PKB’s vote error on the provincial DPRD C copy form. It also denied any vote transfers for PKB. It also denied vote inflation for PDI-P. It said that they had only incorrectly inputted the votes and conducted revision on PDI-P’s votes.

The Respondent also stressed that it had resolved the Petitioner’s objection to the vote recapitulation at the provincial level as under West Sumatera Province Bawaslu. In its petitum, the KPU asks the Court to establish the provincial DPRD election results of West Sumatera 4 with 27,313 votes based on the Respondent’s C copy form. Meanwhile, in the Petitioner’s petitum, it asks the Court to establish the provincial DPRD election results based on C Copy with 27.379 votes for PDI-P.

Meanwhile, Bawaslu conveyed that it had received a report No. 046/LP/PL/RI/00.00/III/2024 regarding alleged election violations, where PDI-P lost one seat for the provincial DPRD election due to errors in inputting TPS (polling stations) C copy forms and subdistrict D result forms. Furthermore, it conducted an initial review of the alleged violations, and concluded that the report met the formal requirements, but did not meet the material requirements. It then issued a notification that the report was not registered because it did not meet the material requirements and that the election results had been certified nationally and there was a case in the Constitutional Court.

In addition to the KPU and Bawaslu, PKB as the Relevant Party also gave its response at today’s hearing. PKB stressed that they reject all PDI-P’s arguments in the case.
