BOGOR (MKRI) — Acting Head of the Pancasila and Constitution Education Center Elisabeth officially closed the workshop on the procedural law for the 2024 General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) for the Labor Party on Thursday, March 16, 2023. In her closing remarks, she said that the general election is a forum for popular sovereignty and an instrument for democracy, which the people use to oversee the implementation of the government’s power.

As one of the biggest democracies, she added, Indonesia holds direct, public, free, confidential, honest, and fair elections. Authorized to adjudicate PHPU cases, the Constitutional Court functions to safeguard this festival of democracy, which is the channel for the people to exercise their right as mandated by the 1945 Constitution.

“This workshop is carried out not only based on the Court’s preparations ahead of the election, but also requires synergy between the litigants relating to the procedural law, procedure, and stages of PHPU resolution, especially political parties who will potentially litigate,” she explained before the party’s cadres at Grha Konstitusi 3 of the Pancasila and Constitution Education Center (Pusdik) in Cisarua, Bogor, West Java Province.

Elisabeth also said that at the workshop, which had gone on since Monday, March 13, the participants received materials on the process, procedure, and stages of PHPU resolution. Hopefully this would help them litigate, resulting in dignified proceedings. The Court also hoped the participants would be its partners and facilitate access to justice for society.
