JAKARTA (MKRI) — Five law students of Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 of Surabaya confirmed their request to withdraw Petition No. 182/PUU-XXIV/2026 on the material review of Article 4 letter c of Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection on the right to accurate, clear, and honest information regarding the condition and guarantees of goods and/or services. The Petitioners presented their request at a hearing on Monday, June 22, 2026, which had been scheduled to hear the revisions to the petition.
“Yes, Your Honors. [The petition] is withdrawn,” said Petitioner I Andrew Aulia Akbar Fatchurrozy alongside four other petitioners, who attended the hearing remotely.
The Petitioners made the confirmation of the petition withdrawal before a panel consisting of Constitutional Justices Enny Nurbaningsih (chair), Ridwan Mansyur, and Asrul Sani. Justice Enny stated that the confirmation would be reported to the justice deliberation meeting.

At the preliminary hearing on Tuesday, June 9, the Petitioners admitted that they face difficulties obtaining adequate information before deciding to consume a product because businesses frequently present information on sugar content in small print and place it in locations that are difficult to find. Due to these informational limitations, the Petitioners face both actual and potential harm. The actual harm consists of the failure to fulfill their right to clear and honest information, while the potential harm consists of health risks arising from excessive sugar consumption that goes unnoticed.
Andrew Aulia Akbar Fatchurrozy, Dwicky Kriswanto, Mochamad Aditya Nugroho, Yusuf Efraim Laga Hae, and Risyah Shafa Selina (Petitioners I-V, respectively) believe Article 4 letter c of the Consumer Protection Law is contrary to Article 28D paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution. The provision provides in full: “The right to accurate, clear, and honest information regarding the condition and guarantees of goods and/or services.”
