JAKARTA (MKRI) – House of Creative Student conducted an academic visit to the Constitutional Court Building on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The visit, aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of the Constitution and Indonesia’s constitutional system, began with a tour of the Constitutional History Center (Puskon) before participants attended a presentation session delivered by Legal Analyst Aditya Yuniarti.
At Puskon, participants were invited to explore the historical development of Indonesia’s Constitution through various collections and information displays. The guides provided an overview of Indonesia’s constitutional journey, from the birth of the Constitution to the development of the country’s legal and democratic systems.
Following the tour, participants attended a presentation on the background of the establishment of the Constitutional Court (MK) as an institution tasked with safeguarding the Constitution and upholding the principles of the rule of law and democracy. Aditya explained the Court’s authorities, including judicial review of laws against the 1945 Constitution, settlement of disputes over the authority of state institutions, dissolution of political parties, and adjudication of election result disputes. She also noted that one of the factors behind the establishment of the Court was the need for an institution authorized to resolve election disputes constitutionally in order to ensure that democratic processes remain in accordance with the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
“One of the driving factors behind the establishment of the Constitutional Court was election result disputes. Around 10 or 20 years ago, election disputes already existed, but they were resolved by the Supreme Court,” Aditya explained.
The discussion proceeded interactively as participants actively raised questions. They took the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the Court’s role in upholding constitutional supremacy and protecting citizens’ constitutional rights. At the end of the session, Aditya also explained to participants of the various facilities available at the Court for future visits, including courtrooms, the library, digital corner, and public information access services available for public use.
