JAKARTA (MKRI) — Students from SMPIT Islamicity Tangerang visited the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, as part of an academic program aimed at enhancing their understanding of the Constitution and Indonesia’s constitutional system. During the visit, they participated in an interactive and educational session delivered by Constitutional Court Junior Expert Legal Analyst Andhyta Andam Nadia.

Andhyta elaborated on the role and functions of the Constitutional Court as a state institution established in the post-reform era through amendments to the 1945 Constitution. She underscored the Court’s key authorities, including conducting judicial review of laws against the Constitution, adjudicating disputes over the authority of state institutions, and resolving general election results disputes.

The students were also introduced to the legal basis for the establishment of the Court, the structure of judicial review petitions, and the concept of constitutional rights inherent in every citizen. The materials provided a comprehensive yet accessible overview of how law and the Constitution operate within the framework of national life.

Furthermore, the session offered deeper insights into the nine constitutional justices currently serving on the Court. The students not only learned their names and number, but also gained an understanding of their backgrounds, appointment processes, and strategic roles in safeguarding the Constitution.

“The Constitutional Court consists of nine constitutional justices, including one female justice, Prof. Enny Nurbaningsih. The current Chief Justice is Suhartoyo, with Saldi Isra serving as Deputy Chief Justice, alongside other justices, namely Enny Nurbaningsih, Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh, Guntur Hamzah, Ridwan Mansyur, Arsul Sani, Adies Kadir, and Liliek Prisbawono Adi,” Andhyta explained during her presentation.

The session became more engaging as students actively took part in discussions and raised questions on the Court’s role and contemporary legal issues. Their enthusiasm was evident throughout the lively Q&A segment.

In addition to attending the presentation, the students also visited the Constitutional History Center, where they observed firsthand the development of Indonesia’s constitutional system—from the early days of independence to its present form. This visit offered a visual experience that further enriched their understanding of the materials presented.

“We are grateful for the warm welcome extended by the Constitutional Court. We hope that this visit and the materials presented will provide meaningful benefits for our students, particularly in keeping them well-informed about legal developments in Indonesia,” said Lili, Principal of SMPIT Islamicity Tangerang.

Through this activity, the students are expected to gain a deeper appreciation of the importance of the Constitution and to foster legal awareness from an early age.
