JAKARTA (MKRI) – A total of 71 students accompanied by four lecturers from the Faculty of Law, Krisnadwipayana University (Unkris), paid an academic visit to the Constitutional Court (MK) on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. This activity was organized to support the learning process for the course of the Constitutional Court's Judicial Practice. The group was received by the Court's Senior Legal Analyst, Muhamad Doni Ramdani, who provided a presentation regarding the practice of judicial review and the procedural mechanisms at the Constitutional Court.

In his presentation, Doni explained that the dynamics of judicial review at the Constitutional Court between 2003 and 2025 were dominated by regulations in the fields of politics and procedural law. "The laws most frequently reviewed were related to elections and criminal procedure."

The top position is occupied by Law No. 7 of 2017 on General Elections with 174 reviews, followed by Law No. 8 of 1981 on Criminal Procedure with 89 reviews, and Law No. 10 of 2016 on Regional Head Elections with 88 reviews.

In addition, Doni added that Law No. 18 of 2003 on Advocates has been reviewed 44 times and Law No. 8 of 2015 on Regional Head Elections with 43 times.

"The high frequency of these judicial reviews demonstrates the strong constitutional dynamics in the areas of elections, regional elections, and criminal justice," he emphasized that constitutional debates on these provisions are part of the process of ensuring laws are in accordance with the constitution.

Furthermore, Doni also introduced the Constitutional Court's various digital services to the participants. "Recapitulations of PUU (judicial review) and PHPU (General Election Results Dispute) cases can be accessed in real time through the Court's official website. Decisions can even be downloaded directly," he explained.

He added that the settlement of General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) cases has a strict time limit, namely 12 working days for Presidential and Vice Presidential Election disputes and 30 working days for the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).

Doni also explained the parties with legal standing to file a judicial review petition. "The petitioner is a party who feels their constitutional rights have been violated, and they can be an individual Indonesian citizen, a customary law community, a legal entity, or a state institution," he explained. This explanation was enthusiastically received by students studying the proceedings at the Constitutional Court.

He explained the technical aspects of drafting a petition, particularly regarding the relationship between constitutional damages and the provisions being reviewed and emphasized the importance of accuracy in drafting legal arguments.

"A well-crafted petition must be systematic, clear, and able to demonstrate the relationship between the provision being challenged and the constitutional loss," he said.

The activity also coincided with the official visit of a delegation from the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan to the Constitutional Court of Indonesia. The delegation consisted of Secretary-General, Nilufarkhon Said Gaziefa; Head of the Department for Digitalization and Information Security, Sherbek Isakulov; and Head of International Relations Department, Hasan Abdurahkmanov. On the occasion, Nilufarkhon delivered an inspirational message to the students.

"I'm also a law professor, and I wish you success in becoming qualified law graduates," she said. She also invited the students to visit Uzbekistan to broaden their international knowledge and experience in the legal field. (*)
