JAKARTA (MKRI) — After taking the oath of office as a Constitutional Justice before the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Adies Kadir immediately attended a meeting with the Constitutional Court Ethics Council (Majelis Kehormatan Mahkamah Konstitusi/MKMK) on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Present at the meeting were MKMK Chair I Dewa Gede Palguna, MKMK Members Ridwan Mansyur and Yuliandri, as well as Adies as the newly appointed Constitutional Justice. The meeting took place at Building I of the Constitutional Court in Jakarta.

Palguna explained that the primary purpose of the meeting was to formally introduce the MKMK to Adies as a new Constitutional Justice nominated by the House of Representatives (DPR). The Council also provided an overview of its institutional role, duties, and authority, including the Sapta Karsa Hutama, its working mechanisms, and essential matters that must be observed or avoided to safeguard the Court’s dignity and institutional authority.

“Essentially, the MKMK underscores that Adies Kadir is now a Constitutional Justice, no longer a politician. Undoubtedly, such a transition requires various adjustments,” Palguna stated.

He further elaborated that the MKMK is mandated to uphold the Code of Ethics and Conduct of Constitutional Justices through an examination mechanism for alleged ethical violations, whether arising from public complaints or internal findings.

To Adies, Palguna conveyed that the principal guidance for maintaining the Court’s dignity is encapsulated in the Sapta Karsa Hutama, which serves as the foundational values for every Constitutional Justice. The seven principles emphasize independence, impartiality, integrity, honesty, prudence, responsibility, and the preservation of the honor and nobility of the institution.

Adies took the oath of office as a Constitutional Justice before President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on Thursday afternoon. He succeeds Arief Hidayat, who has entered retirement after serving as a Constitutional Justice for 13 years since April 2013.

His designation as a candidate for Constitutional Justice was approved during a DPR plenary session on January 27, 2026. Born in Balikpapan on October 17, 1968, Adies previously served as Deputy Speaker of the DPR of the Republic of Indonesia.
