JAKARTA (MKRI)-On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, students of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta visited the Constitutional Court (MK). The visit aimed to deepen their understanding of Indonesia’s constitutional system, particularly the Court’s role and authority as the guardian of the Constitution and democracy.

Junior Legal Analyst at the Court, Arinta Sulistyo Eko Prabowo, welcomed the students and delivered a presentation on the urgency behind the establishment of the Court, which stemmed from the need for a constitutional review mechanism to scrutinize problematic laws. Commonly known as Tyo, he explained that the Court was established to resolve various constitutional law issues, ranging from disputes over election results to the dissolution of political parties.

“The Court has four authorities and one obligation, and the case the Court handles most often is the judicial review of laws against the Constitution,” said Tyo in his presentation before the students of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta.

During the session, Tyo actively interacted with the students. The discussion became lively when International Program students of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta raised critical questions about citizens’ constitutional rights guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution, such as the right to equality before the law and the right to life.

To conclude the visit, the students were guided on a tour of the Constitutional History Center (Puskon MK). Puskon MK serves as a documentation, learning, and information center on the history and practice of Indonesia’s constitution, showcasing important historical collections and archives belonging to the Court. Puskon MK is located on the 5th and 6th floors of Building I of the Court.
