Court’s Legal Analyst, Syamsudin Noer welcoming law students from the Garut Law College (STH), in the hall of Court building, on Wednesday (1/21/2026).
JAKARTA (MKRI) – Students from the Garut Law College (STH Garut) conducted an academic visit to the Court on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. This visit aimed to provide a comprehensive and contextual understanding of the Court's role in Indonesia's constitutional system and to expose students to the real-world practice of administering judicial power.
During the event, students received a live presentation from Syamsudin Noer, an Associate Legal Analyst at the Court. Syamsudin Noer, familiarly known as Syam, delivered presentation on the legal basis for the establishment of the Court, its position within the state structure, and the strategic powers and functions it has carried out since its establishment following the amendment to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
Syam explained that Court is an independent and autonomous judicial authority, with the primary duty of upholding the constitution and ensuring the implementation of the principles of the rule of law. In his presentation, he outlined the Court's duties and functions.
Furthermore, students were also provided with an understanding of the mechanisms and stages of the Court's legal proceedings, from the petition submission process, file review, preliminary hearing, examination hearing, justices' deliberation meeting, to the ruling hearing in a plenary hearing open to the public. Syam emphasized that every Court decision is final and binding, and therefore no further legal action can be taken.
In addition to attending the presentation, the Garut Law College students also visited the Constitutional History Center (Puskon MK), which serves as a documentation, learning, and information center for the history and practice of the Indonesian constitution. The Center displays the Constitutional Court's important historical and archival collections. Located on the 5th and 6th floors of Building I of the Court, the 1,462-square-meter Puskon MK provides a platform for the public to understand the constitution.
The students were enthusiastic about the visit. They found the field law course at the Court to be a different and more practical learning experience than classroom instruction. By directly observing the processes and working environment of the Court, students are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Court's role in upholding constitutional supremacy and democracy in Indonesia.
