JAKARTA, MKRI – The Chief Justice Suhartoyo emphasized the importance of the universal values of Christmas as a foundation for social life, nationhood, and statehood. He conveyed this message in his address at the Constitutional Court’s Christmas Celebration held on Friday (January 9, 2026) in the Delegation Room, Building I of the Constitutional Court.
According to Chief Justice Suhartoyo, Christmas serves as a moment of reflection on the values of love, care for others, and hope. These values are universal in nature and relevant to all, including in the performance of constitutional duties within the Constitutional Court.
The Christmas Celebration this year carried the theme “God Is Present to Save the Family,” underscoring that the family constitutes the primary foundation in shaping character, responsibility, and social sensitivity. The subtheme, “We Are Called to Be God’s Family within the Constitutional Court,” was understood as a shared commitment to fostering a peaceful, harmonious, caring, and mutually supportive working environment, thereby contributing to the Court's performance of its institutional duties.
Chief Justice Suhartoyo also stressed the importance of applying the values of love and togetherness not only within the workplace, but also in family life and the broader community. These values, he noted, represent an essential foundation and constitute significant social capital for strengthening communal life, national unity, and statehood.
“On behalf of the leadership and the institution of the Constitutional Court, I extend my Christmas and New Year greetings. May the celebration of Christmas and the New Year bring renewed spirit and serve as a moment of reflection to improve and enhance our performance in the coming year,” stated Chief Justice Suhartoyo.
He further expressed the hope that the Christmas Celebration would become a source of moral and spiritual strength for all Christian members of the Constitutional Court, while also reinforcing a sense of unity as one extended family. “May the spirit fostered through this celebration strengthen your resolve to continue serving with integrity and a firm commitment to the nation and the state,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Christmas Celebration Organizing Committee, Dede Naibaho, who also serves as Head of the Subdivision for Archives and Dispatch, reported that the theme of Christmas 2025 was drawn from the Gospel of Matthew 1:21–24. Based on this theme, the Committee formulated a subtheme intended to encourage Catholic and Protestant members of the Constitutional Court to strengthen and restore relationships with one another, while becoming instruments of God’s love in daily life.
He added that, consistent with previous years’ celebrations, the Committee invited representatives from the Bakti Luhur Orphanage in Tangerang and the recovery home of the Rasa Foundation in Bekasi. This initiative was intended to ensure that the joy of Christmas could be shared not only by the extended family of the Constitutional Court, but also by the surrounding community. On that occasion, the Committee conveyed its appreciation and gratitude to the Chief Justice, the Deputy Chief Justice, the Constitutional Justices, and the Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court for their support in organizing the event.
At the same event, Chief Justice Suhartoyo and Deputy Justice Saldi Isra presented tokens of goodwill to the Gerasa Recovery Home (Gerakan Asih Abadi) Indonesia in Bekasi and the Bhakti Luhur Orphanage in Jakarta.
The Constitutional Court’s Christmas Celebration was attended by the Chairperson of the Communion of Churches in Indonesia, Jacklevyn Frits Manuputty; Yos Bintoro; representatives of the Indonesian Bishops’ Conference; Maria Farida Indrati; Gregorius Seto Harianto; the Secretary General of the Indonesian Bible Society, Sigit Triyono; and Deputy Justice Saldi Isra. The event was attended by Justice Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh, Justice Ridwan Mansyur, Justice M. Guntur Hamzah, and Justice Arsul Sani.
