JAKARTA (MKRI) – The Court held the oath-taking ceremony for the 2026 Constitutional Court’s Ethics Council on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in the Auditorium of Building I of the Court. The three members of the Ethics Council (MKMK) consist of one Constitutional Justice; one community leader; and one academic with a legal background.

The three Ethics Council members are Ridwan Mansyur, representing the constitutional justices; I Dewa Gede Palguna, representing the community leaders; and Yuliandri, representing the academics with a legal background. The oath-taking ceremony was administered before Chief Justice Suhartoyo, witnessed by Secretary General Heru Setiawan and Acting Registrar Wiryanto.

The three Ethics Council members will carry out their duties from January 7 to December 31, 2026, assisted by the Ethics Council Permanent Secretariat. This oath-taking is based on an excerpt from Constitutional Court Chief Justice Decree No. 3 of 2025 concerning the Extension of the Term of Office of the Ethics Council of the Constitutional Court.

In his remarks at the oath-taking ceremony for the Ethics Council, Chief Justice Suhartoyo stated that the oath-taking ceremony for the Ethics Council members was held again upon the agreement of the Constitutional Justices in the Justices' Deliberation Meeting (RPH).

"So, for the third time, Ethics Council members have been entrusted as part of the Ethics Council. Your duties will become increasingly difficult as more and more petitions are submitted to the Court, and this will certainly intersect with the character of the petitioners. Without the participation of the Ethics Council, in terms of carrying out its duties, the public trust gained by the Court would only be half-hearted. If there is an angle from the Ethics Council, then the Court can achieve complete and comprehensive public trust," said the Chief Justice of the Court in his speech at the oath-taking ceremony, which was also attended by constitutional justices and officials of the Court.

At this event, in front of the spouses of the Ethics Council members, Chief Justice Suhartoyo congratulated the Ethics Council members for their service and dedication, both in 2025 and in 2024.

"Hopefully, the Ethics Council will be able to better meet the needs of the institution (the Constitutional Court) and earn public trust. One of the Ethics Council's duties is to uphold the ethics of constitutional justices. In the future, I hope the Ethics Council can further support the Court in upholding the constitutional mandate," said Chief Justice Suhartoyo.
