JAKARTA (MKRI) – Constitutional Court Legal Counselor Achmad Junaedi welcomed a group of 155 students from the Faculty of Law, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Through the Legal Emerging Program, the students were introduced more comprehensively to the Constitutional Court, beginning from its historical establishment to its authority in safeguarding the Constitution and the constitutional rights of citizens.

To encourage discussion and sharpen the students’ understanding, Legal Counselor Junaedi invited them to answer several basic questions about the Court. “Settling disputes between state institutions,” “Handling election cases,” and “Resolving regional head election disputes” were among the responses given by several students.

Legal Counselor Junaedi then continued the session by presenting material on constitutional justices and the role of the Constitutional Court’s Honorary Ethics Council (MKMK). “Constitutional Justices cannot work arbitrarily because the MKMK oversees their performance,” Junaedi explained during the student visit.

Speaking before the law students, Legal Counselor Junaedi elaborated in detail on the process of filing petitions and the judicial review hearing conducted by the Court. Before filing a petition, Petitioners are expected to first understand the procedural law of the Court. In addition, Petitioners must also study which parties possess legal standing to file a judicial review petition. Junaedi then outlined the stages Petitioners and/or their legal counsel must undergo when filing a petition and during the hearings that follow. (*)
