JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) will turn 22 on August 13, 2025. To commemorate its anniversary, the Court held a ceremony in the courtyard of Building 2 of the Court, Jakarta, on Wednesday morning, August 13, 2025. Chief Justice Suhartoyo officiated the ceremony.

The ceremony was also attended by eight other constitutional justices, along with their spouses, staff, and employees within the Constitutional Court's Registrar's Office and Secretariat General. Beginning his remarks as the ceremony's instructor, Chief Justice Suhartoyo stated that the Court's 22nd anniversary was a significant milestone, not only marking the institution's anniversary but also a call to reflect on the Court's development, role, and responsibilities to the nation and state.

"As the guardian of the constitution, the guardian of democracy, and the protector of citizens' constitutional rights, the Court plays a central role in upholding the values of Pancasila and the constitution. However, the strength of this institution lies not only in its extensive authority, but also in the integrity of its officers," said Chief Justice Suhartoyo.

On the occasion of the Court's anniversary, Chief Justice Suhartoyo motivated all employees to always show politeness, professionalism, service, and dedication. He emphasized that daily duties are not merely routine, but a tangible form of devotion to the nation and state.

Because a good judicial institution is reflected not only in its decisions, but also in the character of those who carry out state duties, who are honest and loyal to the nation's noble values. Chief Justice Suhartoyo said all parties must recognize that they are part of a larger system, a system of law enforcement and the constitution that supports the integrity of the nation's democracy.

"No matter how small our role, if we carry it out sincerely, carefully, and responsibly, we will contribute to maintaining the nation's direction in the future," he said.

Chief Justice Suhartoyo continued, explaining that 22 years is a milestone for an institution. The Court has passed numerous historical trials, safeguarding the constitution amidst various national dynamics. It's no easy feat for a judicial institution within the constitutional system to get  public trust, let alone maintain it in today's fast-paced and complex world.

"The true test is our consistency: whether we can maintain the dignity of the Court or become trapped in mere routine," he said.

Furthermore, Chief Justice Suhartoyo emphasized that public trust is an invaluable asset. It is built through consistency in upholding the law and justice, and maintained by the exemplary conduct of all elements within this institution. Therefore, all elements need to strengthen their shared commitment and make their best contributions, not only in providing court services but also as guardians of Indonesia's constitutionality.

"In every action, word, and interaction we take, whether in the workplace, in public forums, or in the digital space, we always carry the great name of the Court. Therefore, every step, action, and deed we undertake must uphold the honor and trust this nation has placed in us all," Chief Justice Suhartoyo emphasized.

At the same event, 12 Constitutional Court civil servants (ASN) received the Satyalancana Karya Satya award. They were I Made Gede Widyatanaya, Ganggas Wibisono, Abriansyah Maulana, Muhammad Luthfi, Tarnoto, Bangkit Panji Anarogo, Jafit Sugiato, Yunita Nurwulantari, Andita Andam Nadia, Rosalia Agustin, Riani Anggraini, and Haifa Arif Lubis. The Constitutional Court also presented awards to several exemplary employees.

The Court's 22nd anniversary celebrations are scheduled to continue on Friday, August 15, 2025 by a thanksgiving ceremony in the Auditorium of Building 1. Coinciding with the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2025, the Court has also held various competitions in various sports, including table tennis, dominoes, and Mobile Legend esports.

Happy anniversary the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia!
