JAKARTA (MKRI) — Students of Ma’arif University Lampung (Umala) visited the Constitutional Court (MK) on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. The visit, attended by 54 students and accompanied by lecturers, was welcomed directly by Legal Analyst Lia Nur Jannah in the Court Delegation Room.
In her presentation entitled "Getting to Know the Constitutional Court", Lia invited students to get to know the Court and the Court's procedural law which need to be studied and understood well. In several recent judicial review cases (PUU), Lia observed a trend in petitions filed by students to the Court. Therefore, on this occasion, Lia shared the knowledge that she experienced at the Legal and Administrative Bureau of the Court Registrar's Office with students to better understand how to file and prepare petition in accordance with applicable provisions.
Lia explained that to prepare a petition, students have to refer to Constitutional Court Regulation No. 2 of 2021 on Procedures in Cases of Judicial Review of Laws (PMK 2/2021). PMK 2/2021 provides a complete understanding for Petitioners in submitting a petition to the Court. Starting from the Petitioner's qualifications, the systematics of the petition, to the requirements for constitutional rights that are violated by a norm that can be challenged. Then after the Petitioner submits the petition, Lia informs that the existence of the case can be traced by the parties on the simple.mkri.id page which is part of the optimization of information technology by the Court.
"Through this page, students can observe the cases in the Court and this can also be material for students in writing their theses. Because there are many petitions that can be studied and tracked to what extent the process is and what the decision will be. In addition, there is also the Court's social media which contains a lot of knowledge, especially decision updates. Well, this can be an inspiration for writing a thesis too. The Court also has a journal, this is for those who have a passion for writing, they can send their articles to this department," explained Lia, explaining a number of facilities that can make it easier for students to get to know the Court better.
Security of Petitioner's Personal Data
In the discussion session with the speaker, a question came from Umala student named Galih who asked about the security of personal data of Petitioners who apply for PUU online. Answering this, Lia ensured that every personal data that is very personal in nature is guaranteed confidentiality.
"The personal data in the petition is guaranteed, because what is in the petition on the page is only the data of name, nationality, while for the identity of NIK, address, all of that we give a mark in the form of a black block, so that such information is not published," explained Lia answering a question from one of the students of Ma'arif University Lampung which is a private Islamic university under the Nahdlatul Ulama and is located in Metro City, Lampung.
