JAKARTA (MKRI) — In order to improve legal insight related to the Judicial Mechanism at the Court (MK), 38 young people who are members of the Indigenous Peoples Association of the Archipelago attended the Court on Thursday, June 19, 2025. The enthusiasm of these young people to learn law was welcomed by the Court Legal Analyst Ditya Zuliana in the legal discussion room in the Court Delegation Room.

Ditya explained that the Court is a high state institution that exercises judicial power that was established based on the amendment to the 1945 Constitution as stated in Article 24C of the 1945 Constitution. The Court’s authorities are maintaining the constitutionality of the law, the final interpreter of the constitution, the guardian of democracy, and the protector of the constitutional rights of citizens. "The authority of the Court includes reviewing laws against the Constitution; deciding on disputes over the authority of state institutions whose authority is granted by the Constitution; deciding on the dissolution of political parties, and deciding on disputes regarding the results of general elections," said Ditya.

In relation to the authority in reviewing laws against the Constitution with the existence of indigenous communities, the Court has decided a case in Decision No. 97/PUU-XIV/2016 related to the Population Administration Law. This decision provides legal space for believers to include their beliefs in the religion column on their KTP and KK.

In this discussion, the believers who attended exchanged ideas regarding the impact and implementation of the Court's decision in the development of legal needs and constitutional rights of citizens (belief adherents). (*)
