JAKARTA (MKRI) – The Constitutional Court (MK) dismissed the petition for case No. 248/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 on the 2024 East Halmahera regent election results dispute, filed by Candidate Pair 1 Muhammad Farrel Adhitama-Hi. Thaib Djalaluddin. The verdict was read by Chief Justice Suhartoyo at the ruling hearing on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Constitutional Justice Enny Nurbaningsih delivered the Court’s legal considerations, stating that the Petitioners’ petition was submitted past the deadline as stipulated in Law No. 10 of 2016 on the Regional Election Law and the Constitutional Court Regulation (PMK) No. 3 of 2024.
“On the petition’s merit, [the Court] dismisses the Case No. 248/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025,” stated Chief Justice Suhartoyo accompanied by the other eight constitutional justices in the plenary courtroom.

The Petitioners alleged violations including vote-buying, involvement of civil apparatus (ASN), the polling committees, KPPS (polling station working committee), and village apparatus.
One of the alleged violations involved the regional secretary of East Halmahera Regency, who gave money to the witnesses of one of the candidate pairs. This alleged violation happened in Maba Sangaji Village on November 27, 2024, which was the voting day for East Halmahera Regency.
