JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) dismissed the petition for case No. 26/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025 on the 2024 Manado mayoral election results dispute. The ruling for this case, filed by mayor-vice mayor candidate pair 3 (Jimmy Rimba Rogi-Kristo Ivan Ferno Lumentut), was delivered by Chief Justice Suhartoyo on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

“In the petition’s subject matter, [the Court] declare the Petitioners’ petition inadmissible,” stated Chief Justice Suhartoyo delivering the verdict along with the other eight constitutional justices.

In its legal considerations, delivered by Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat, the Court stated that the Petitioner did not meet the formal requirements for filing the petition, citing obscure reasons. “As such, the Court declared the Petitioners’ petition obscured,” asserted Justice Arief.

At the preliminary hearing on January 14, 2025, the Petitioners argued that the incumbent candidate pair held a cheap market program during their term of office. The Petitioners also suspected the involvement of the Manado City Interreligious Cooperation Council (BKSAUA) in the cheap market program indicating campaigns in places of worship under the guise of this program.

The Petitioners raised concerns about a potential conflict of interest in this program, which was continued by Manado acting mayor Clay June Dondokambey, nephew of the general treasurer of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and former North Sulawesi governor Olly Dondokambey. Notably, Andrei Angouw-Richard Hendri Marthen Sualang are also members of said party.
