Central Mamuju Dispute Petition Declared Decree in Absence

JAKARTA, MKRI - The Constitutional Court (MK) declared a decree in absence for the petition of Candidate Pair Number 2 Sahrul Sukardi-Alamsyah Arifin in the dispute over the 2024 Central Mamuju regent election results for Case No. 240/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025. The decree was read out by Chief Justice Suhartoyo who was accompanied by eight Constitutional Court Justices, Jakarta.

Prior to Chief Justice Suhartoyo's pronouncement, Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat explained that the justice deliberation meeting concluded that the petition should be declared decree in absence. “It's [The Petition declared] Decree in Absence,” stated Chief Justice Suhartoyo, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

In the preliminary hearing of the dispute over the 2024 Central Mamuju regent election results with case No. 240/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 on Thursday, January 9, 2025, Julianto Asis the Petitioners’ legal counsel stated that he had resigned as legal counsel for Sahrul Sukardi-Alamsyah Arifin.

He explained that in the last communication, there was an agreement that could not be reached between the Petitioners and the legal counsel. Julianto and three others have also made a letter of resignation as legal counsel filed in the hearing.(*)
