JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Court held the examination hearing for the Murung Raya regent election results dispute on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. The hearing included the Respondent’s response and testimonies by the Relevant Party and Bawaslu (Elections Supervisory Body). Chief Justice Suhartoyo presided over the hearing, joined by Justices Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah in panel 1 courtroom.
Addressing the petition of candidate pair 2 Nuryakin and Doni (the Petitioners), the Murung Raya Regency KPU (the Respondent)’s legal counsel Ridhotul Hairi stated that the request for a revote in 20 polling stations lacks clarity as the Petitioners did not specify the basis for such a revote according to the regulations. Considering the baseless argument by the Petitioners, the Court should declare the Petitioners’ petition inadmissible.
“As such, the Respondent requested the Court to declare the validity of the Murung Raya KPU decree No. 861 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 Murung Raya regent-vice regent election results dated December 2024, 13:20 Western Indonesia Time,” stated Hairi.
Election Proceeded Smoothly
The candidate pair 1 Heriyus Midel Yoseph-Rahmanto Muhidin (the Related Party)’s legal counsel, M. Rudjito explained the alleged violations in polling stations 1 and 4 of Beriwit village, Murung district. Based on statement letters from Roni Parmanto and Riati as the witnesses of the Relevant Party, the voting in those polling stations went smoothly without any issues. “During the voting in polling stations 1 and 4, the Petitioners’ witnesses did not have any objections,” explained Rudjito.
No Reports Received
On behalf of Murung Raya Bawaslu, Elides Jena explained that they did not receive reports and/or findings of election violations and disputes. Based on the D-result-regency-KWK form, the votes are as follows: candidate pair 1 (Heriyus Midel Yoseph-Rahmanto Muhidin) with 31,459 votes and candidate pair 2/the Petitioners (Nuryakin and Doni) with 31,141 votes, totaling 62,600 legitimate votes.

Illegitimate Voters Allegation in the Murung Raya Regency Election
In the preliminary hearing on January 13, 2025, the Petitioners requested the Court to annul the Murung Raya Regency KPU decree No. 861 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 Murung Raya Regency election results. The Petitioners stated that the Murung Raya KPU certified the following votes: candidate pair 1 with 31,459 votes, and the Petitioners with 31,141 votes. However, the Petitioners argued the correct votes should have been: candidate pair 1 with 31,208 votes, and the Petitioners with 31,392 votes.
The Petitioners argued that the significant margin was caused by fraudulent acts of candidate pair 1’s campaign team, which were allegedly ignored by the Respondent. Additionally, the Petitioners claim that there were eight additional voters who did not have voting invitations and A-form relocation letters, making them ineligible to vote.
Therefore, the Petitioners requested the Court to annul the Murung Raya KPU Decree No. 861 of 2024 concerning the certification of the 2024 Murung Raya Regency election results relating to the vote acquisition in polling stations 1, 3, 16, 17, 19, 21 of Beriwit Village (Murung District); polling station 1 Danau Usung Village (Murung District); polling stations 1 and 2 Masao Village (Sumber Barito District); polling station 1 Sungai Lunuh Village (Tanah Siang District), polling station 1 Nono Kliwon Village (Tanah Siang District), polling station 1 Datah Koto Village (South Tanah Siang District); polling station 1 Muara Untu Village (Murung District); polling station 1 Bahitom Village (Murung District); polling station 2 Muara Sumpoi Village (Murung District); polling station 5 Muara Laung 1 Village (Laung Tuhup District); polling station 5 Muara Tuhup Village (Laung Tuhup District), polling station 1 Dirung Lingkin Village (South Tanah Siang District); polling station 1 Tumbang Kunyi Village (Sumber Barito District); polling station 1 Batu Makap Village (Sumber Barito District); and polling station 1 Kalapeh Baru Village (Sumber Barito District).
