JAKARTA (MKRI) – The Constitutional Court (MK) held an examination hearing for the 2024 Semarang City mayoral election results dispute presided over by Chief Justice Suhartoyo (panel chair), Constitutional Justice Foekh, and M. Guntur Hamzah on Panel 1 on Monday, January 20, 2025.
The examination hearing hears the Respondent’s response and testimonies by the Relevant Party, and Bawaslu (Election Supervisory Body). However, as the Indonesian Voters Association (Petitioners) withdrew the petition, the Court should verify the Petitioners, yet they remained absent while the Court started the hearing.
“The Voter Observer was not present when the petition was withdrawn, so we cannot verify the withdrawal of the case. This absence means the withdrawal is justified or the Petitioners lack seriousness. Consequently, the case holds no relevance to proceed and is deemed withdrawn," stated Chief Justice Suhartoyo concerning Case No. 199/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025.

In the preliminary hearing on Thursday, January 1, 2025, the Petitioners requested that the Court annul the Semarang KPU Decree No. 1801 of 2024 on the certification of the mayoral election results. They stated that Candidate Pair 01 Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti–Iswar Amiruddin obtained 486,423 votes and Candidate Pair 02 Yoyok Sukawi–Joko Santoso obtained 363,331 votes. However, the process of determining the results, according to the Petitioners, contained a legal flaw due to significant procedural violations at the voting stage.
