JAKARTA (MKRI) – The issue of the final voter lists (DPT) is one of the key points raised by the Petitioners in Case No. 234/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 regarding the 2024 Maybrat Regency election results dispute. Candidate Pair 01 Kornelius Kambu–Zakeus Momao (Petitioners) presented their arguments at the preliminary hearing in the Constitutional Court (MK) on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The hearing was presided over by Chief Justice Suhartoyo (panel chair) and Constitutional Justice Foekh and M. Guntur Hamzah on Panel 1. The Maybrat Regency KPU (Elections Commission) was the Respondent, while Candidate Pair 03 Karel Murafer–Ferdinando Solossa are the Relevant Party.
The DPT was the key highlight as it happened at 51 polling stations in 15 districts, as follows: South Ayamaru Jaya, North Ayamaru, Ayaaru Jaya, North East Ayaaru, East Ayamaru, Central Ayamaru, West Ayamaru, Ayamaru, South Ayamaru, South Mare, North Aifat, South Aifat, Aifat, Mare, and Aitinyo Raya.
The Petitioners’ legal counsel Muhammad Sam Almunawi stated that the problem includes deceased people listed in the DPT and cast their vote. It also includes voters who were not present at the location on election day. The Petitioners believe that both situations were exploited by the Respondent and the Relevant Party.
“The Respondent and Candidate Pair 03 exploited the data of deceased people and voters who were not at the location on the 2024 Maybrat election day,” revealed Sam.
Such exploitation was committed by involving several parties such as village heads, district heads, and KPPS (polling station working committee) members. The Petitioners claimed that these parties had engaged in multiple voting, including casting ballots on behalf of voters who were absent on election day.
The Petitioners reported evidence of those violations to the Maybrat Regency Bawslu (Elections Supervisory Body), which then released a recommendation letter for the Maybrat KPU to do a revote at four polling stations.
“However, [the Maybrat Regency KPU] has never conducted any examination and collection of information from said recommendation,” Sam said.
In the petitums, the Petitioners requested the Court to annul the Maybrat Regency KPU Decree concerning the certification of the 2024 Maybrat Regency election results and to order the Maybrat Regency KPU to conduct a revote at 51 polling stations.
