JAKARTA (MKRI) – Saparuddin, on behalf of the Indonesian Voters Association, withdrew the petition concerning the 2024 Tambrauw Regency election results dispute. The withdrawal was read in the preliminary hearing for Case No. 142/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 in the Court on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The preliminary hearing was presided over by Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat (panel chair) and Constitutional Justices Anwar Usman and Enny Nurbaningsih on Panel 3.
During the hearing, Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat stated that the petition filed by the Indonesian Voters Association was withdrawn as of the letter dated January 10, 2025, regarding the notification of the withdrawal of the case file. "So, it has been read in an open hearing for the public, so we will report that case 142 is considered to have been withdrawn," said Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat.
The Petitioners previously alleged an election violation in the certification of the 2024 Tambrauw Regency election results. During the district-level recapitulation in Sausapor District, witness Keliopas Momo reported in the special incident/objection statement form that votes from the remaining ballots were cast for a specific candidate pair. Furthermore, the C-Result Form was not delivered to the KPPS (polling station working committee) but was instead retained by the Tambrauw Regency KPU (Election Commission). This led to improper documentation of ballot usage, remaining ballots, and valid and invalid ballots in the C-Results. Such breaches of election procedures have caused harm to voters and candidate pairs. Consequently, the Petitioners requested the Court to annul the Tambrauw Regency KPU decision. (*)
