JAKARTA (MKRI) — M. Andrean Saefudin, an election observer from Sarekat Demokrasi Indonesia (a Civil Society Organization/CSO), officially withdrew his petition during a hearing held on Wednesday, January 15. The Chair of Panel 3, Justice Arief Hidayat, confirmed receiving the withdrawal letter, which was submitted by the head of Sarekat Demokrasi Indonesia.

“This letter, dated January 14, 2025, signed by the Head of Sarekat Demokrasi Indonesia requests the withdrawal of the petition in case No.280/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025. I will report this [request] to the justice deliberation meeting and [will] declare the withdrawal which will be read in the hearing,” Constitutional Justice Arief explained.

In the petition, the Petitioner alleges that the Respondent distributed election logistics to all districts in Puncak Regency, allocating resources to each area. However, five districts—Wangbe, Beoga, West Beoga, East Beoga, and Ogamanim—experienced delays in receiving their election materials. These delays resulted in the postponement of the election in these districts, deviating from the schedule outlined in the General Election Commission (KPU) Regulation No. 2 of 2024, which specifies the stages and timeline for the 2024 regional elections, including those for governor-vice governor, regent-vice regent, and mayor-vice mayor. Consequently, the Petitioner contends that the Respondent's actions constitute a violation of the legal provisions set forth in the aforementioned regulation.

In the petitum, the Petitioner requests the Court to grant the petition in its entirety and annul the Puncak KPU Decree No. 85 of 2024, issued on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 18:56 Eastern Indonesia Time. (*)
