JAKARTA (MKRI) – Saparudin, an election observer of the 2024 Puncak regent election, withdrew the petition for Case No. 287/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 2024 on the Puncak regent election results dispute. This withdrawal was confirmed by Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat as panel chair at the preliminary examination hearing on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in the panel 3 courtroom. "Reported immediately," stated Justice Arief.

Previously, in their petition, the Petitioners contested the results of the vote count as outlined in Puncak Election Commission (KPU) Decree No. 85 of 2024, which certified the 2024 regent election results on December 12, 2024. They argued that violations occurred during the election process, which compromised the principles of justice, particularly for the people of Puncak Regency.

The Petitioners stated that the governor, regent, and mayor elections represent the implementation and manifestation of the people's sovereignty in provinces and regencies/cities. These elections allow citizens to directly and democratically elect their leaders based on the principles of direct, public, free, confidential, honest, and fair elections.

In their petitum, the Petitioners requested that their petition be granted in its entirety and to cancel the Puncak KPU Decree No. 85 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 Puncak regent election results dated December 12, 2024.(*)
