JAKARTA (MKRI) Candidate Pair 01 Petrus Solossa-Mustakim HR withdrew their petition for Case No. 226/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 concerning the 2024 Keerom Regency election results dispute at the preliminary hearing in the Panel 3 Courtroom on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Their legal counsel Pangeran stated that they would like to withdraw the petition. “On January 14, our principal (Petitioners) officially submitted the petition withdrawal letter for Keerom Regency, and at this hearing, as legal counsel, I also confirm that the petition for Case No. 226/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 is withdrawn,” he asserted before Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat (panel chair).

In the petition, the Petitioners argued that within six months, the incumbent regent Piter Gusbager had reshuffled at least 19 civil apparatus (ASN), which constituted violations under Article 71 paragraph (3), and therefore, the Petitioners reported it to Bawaslu (Elections Supervisory Body). However, by the time the a quo case was submitted to the Court, no disqualification sanction had been imposed.

Besides, a day before the 2024 Keerom Regency election day, the police allegedly engaged in actions that favored Candidate Pair 02 Piter Gusbager by influencing the public to vote for the pair. The Petitioners reported this to the Papua Provincial Bawaslu. However, there has been no follow-up on the report, raising concerns about the neutrality of its handling. These violations should have led to sanctions, including the disqualification of said candidate pair.

In the petitums, the Petitioners requested the Court to grant the entire petition and to annul the Keerom Regency KPU Decree No. 538 of 2024 concerning the amendment to the Keerom Regency KPU Decree No. 71 of 2024 concerning the certification of the 2024 Keerom Regency election results, and to disqualify Candidate Pair 02 Piter Gusbager–Daud from participating in the 2024 Keerom Regency election.
