JAKARTA (MKRI) — The North Gorontalo regent-vice regent candidate pair 2, Thariq Modanggu and Nurjana Hasan Yusuf, have filed a petition requesting the nullification of the North Gorontalo KPU (Elections Commission) Decree No. 1081 of 2024 on the certification of the North Gorontalo regent election results dated December 4, 2024. They argued structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) violations had occurred in the regent election.

The Petitioners’ legal counsel Febriyan Potale alleged the TSM violations had harmed the election, considering the North Gorontalo Regency KPU had allowed ineligible individuals to run. The Petitioners argued that regent candidate pair 3 Ridwan Yasin is a convicted felon, while regent candidate 1 Roni Imran does not have a high school diploma.

“These ineligible individuals include candidate pair 1 who lacks a high school diploma and candidate pair 3 who is a convicted felon. He was sentence to 4 years in prison and a 1-year probation by a decision with permanent legal force dated April 23, 2024,” Potale explained.

In place of a high school diploma, Roni Imran had obtained a statement letter from the Gorontalo Regency Civil Registry. “The statement letter was given to the school to issue another letter stating Roni Imran as owner of the diploma under the name of Ron K. Imran, which the Respondent used to announce them as candidate pair 1 on September 22, 2024,” added another legal counsel, Salahudin Pataya.

As such, the Petitioners requested the Court to annul the North Gorontalo KPU Decree No. 1081 of 2024 dated 14.30 WITA on December 4, 2024 on the certification of North Gorontalo regent-vice regent election results. In addition, they wish the Court will disqualify candidate pair 3 Ridwan Yasin and Muksin Badar.

“[The Petitioners hopes the Court will] disqualify candidate pair 1 Roni Imran dan Ramdhan Mapaliey based on the North Gorontalo KPU Decree No. 640 dated September 22, 2024 on the certification of the 2024 North Gorontalo regent-vice regent candidates as amended by the North Gorontalo KPU Decree No. 653 of 2024 dated October 4, 2024 on the amendment to the North Gorontalo KPU Decree No. 640 of 2024 dated September 22, 2024 on the certification of the 2024 North Gorontalo regent-vice regent candidates, and declare Thariq Modanggu and Nurjana Hasan Yusuf as the elected regent-vice regent in the 2024 North Gorontalo election,” Salahudin added.
