JAKARTA (MKRI) – Candidate Pair 03 Ridwan Yasin-Muksin Badar withdrew their petition concerning the 2024 North Gorontalo Regency election results dispute. The preliminary hearing for Case No. 56/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 was held in the Panel 3 courtroom on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

In the preliminary hearing, legal counsel Efendi Dali stated that his party withdrew the petition. “After careful consideration, the Petitioners decided to withdraw the petition that had been registered in the Court. We have also submitted an official letter to the Court regarding the withdrawal of this petition,” said Efendi.

Previously, the Petitioners argued that the North Gorontalo KPU (Respondent) certified Roni Imran as a regent candidate, despite using a Senior High School diploma under the name of Ron K. Imran to meet the requirements. On September 22, 2024, the Respondent issued the North Gorontalo Regency KPU Decree No. 640 of 2024, certifying the 2024 North Gorontalo Regency election candidate pairs, including Roni Imran. 

The decree allowed the candidate pair to take part in the ballot number draw. Conversely, Ridwan Yasin and Muksin Badar were not certified as candidates, as Ridwan Yasin was deemed Not Meeting the Requirements (TMS) for the regent candidacy. Therefore, the Petitioners filed a petition to the North Gorontalo Regency Bawaslu (election supervisory body), asserting that they had fulfilled all requirements stipulated in PKPU Regulation Number 8 of 2024.

They also felt disadvantaged as they could not hold a campaign as per their schedule, as stated in the North Gorontalo Regency KPU Decree No. 643 of 2024 concerning the certification of the candidate pair campaign schedule. As a result, the limited campaign time was considered to have affected the Petitioners’ vote acquisition in the 2024 North Gorontalo Regency election.

Thus, the Petitioners requested the Court to order the North Gorontalo Regency KPU to do a revote in 245 polling stations and only be contested by Candidate Pair Thariq Modanggu-Nurjana Hasan Yusuf and Candidate Pair Ridwan Yasin-Muksin Badar. (*)
