JAKARTA (MKRI) — Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra said the Petitioner had withdrawn the petition for Case Number 140/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025 regarding the dispute over the 2024 South Sorong regent election results. Therefore, the South Sorong KPU (Elections Commission) as the Respondent as well as the Relevant Party do not need to answer this petition.

“The Petitioner has withdrawn their petition, so for (case number) 140 the Respondent no longer needs to provide response, rebuttal, et cetera. This applies to the Relevant Party,” said Justice Saldi, who chaird panel 2 alongside Constitutional Justices Ridwan Mansyur and Arsul Sani, at the preliminary hearing on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

This petition was filed by the Indonesian Voters Association (PPI), represented by PPI coordinator Saparuddin. In the petition, the Petitioner asked the Court to cancel the South Sorong KPU Decree Number 945 of 2024 regarding the certification of the 2024 South Sorong regent election results dated December 6, 2024 and to order the South Sorong KPU to conduct a recount of votes at the TPS 003 of Wernas Hamlet, Teminambun District.

Based on the KPU’s certification of election results, Candidate Pair Number 1 Martinus Salamuk-Paulinus Kora received 2,740 votes, Candidate Pair Number 2 Dance Nauw-Barbalina Helena Aifufu received 1,224 votes, Candidate Pair Number 3 Yance Salambauw-Ahmad Samsudin received 9,800 votes, Candidate Pair Number 4 Jevries Nelson Kewetare-Yakob Thesia received 5,677 votes, and Candidate Pair Number 5 Petronela Krenek-Yohan Bodory received 13,599 votes.
