JAKARTA, MKRI - Candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Sawahlunto City Number 02 Deri Asta and Desni Seswinari filed the petition for cancellation of the Sawahlunto City General Election Commission Decree Number 579 of 2024 concerning the Certification of the Election Results of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Sawahlunto City Year 2024 dated December 3, 2024. However, in the preliminary hearing of the Mayoral Election Results Dispute, conducted by Panel of Justice 1 chaired by Chief Justice Suhartoyo along with Constitutional Justice Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh and Constitutional Justice M. Guntur Hamzah, the petition was declared revoked or withdrawn.

The revocation of the petition for Case Number 50/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025 was filed directly by Afriendi Sikumbang as the Petitioner’s legal counsel in the hearing held in the Plenary Room on Friday morning, January 10, 2025. Chief Justice Suhartoyo requested the Petitioner's legal counsel to present the Principal so they could revoke or cancel the petition.

“How can we be convinced of the case's revocation? At the next hearing, the candidate pair who filed this case must be present. The point [of their attendance] is to confirm that the candidate pair indeed wishes to revoke it. The Court must be cautious, and therefore, the confirmation must take place in the courtroom,” said Chief Justice Suhartoyo to the Petitioner’s legal counsel.

In the petition, the Petitioner alleged that the other party conducted money politics in several areas, including Kolok Village, Barangin Sub-district and West Lunto Village, Lembah Segar Sub-district. There were two pairs of candidates participating in the 2024 Sawah Lunto mayoral election, namely candidate pair number 01 Riyanda Putra - Jefry Hibatullah and candidate pair number 02 Deri Asta - Desni Seswinari.
