JAKARTA (MKRI) – Civil servants mobilization to secure the win for Candidate Pair 04 Piet Hein Babua-Kasman Hi. Ahmad in the 2024 North Halmahera Regency election. The argument above was filed by Candidate Pair 02 Steward Leopard Louis Soentpiet and Maskur Abdullah on Friday, January 10, 2025. In the preliminary hearing for Case No. 104/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025, legal counsel Denny Alan Pakiding requested the Court to order a revote in all polling stations in North Halmahera Regency. They requested a revote only contested by three candidate pairs, Candidate Pair 01 Muchlis Tapi Tapi-Tonny Laos, Candidate Pair 02 Steward Leopold Louis Soentpiet-Maskur Abdullah, and Candidate Pair 03 Matheus Stefi Pasimanyeku-Abdul Aziz Hakim.

The Petitioners objected to the vote counting results that secured the win for Candidate Pair 04 Piet Hein Babua-Kasman Hi. Ahmad. They argue that the victory was achieved through an unconstitutional process and a structured, systematic, and massive violation as long as the election stages.

“The structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) violations that the Petitioners mean is the mobilization of civil servants. Second, the mobilization of support for the regent-vice regent candidates from the active regent of North Halmahera and several village heads. The non-neutrality of the voting organizers at the polling station level for the district recapitulation and the regency level recapitulation” explained Denny.

Even further, the Petitioners revealed several violations committed by the Respondent from two days before the election to the election day on November 27, 2024. Such fraudulent action includes the use of voting rights by unauthorized parties, deliberate attempts to invalidate ballots, and residents voting outside their registered polling stations.

The Petitioners also highlighted the discrepancies in C-KWK Model final voters attendance list, which was only marked with a check mark without a physical signature. In addition, voters were found to have voted more than once and there was a difference in the number of voters in the final voter list (DPT) with the number of voters recorded in the C-KWK Model final voters attendance list.

Therefore, the Petitioners requested the Court to annul the vote counting results and order for a revote in the North Halmahera Regency. (*)
