JAKARTA, (MKRI) —- Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat delivered a speech and symbolically inaugurated the use of the Smart Board Mini Court Room at the Museum Agung Bung Karno on Friday, July 5, 2024, in Denpasar, Bali. This initiative is a collaboration between the Constitutional Court (MK) and the Bung Karno Library Foundation to provide tangible contributions to justice seekers. Justice Arief was accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court, Heru Setiawan.
In his speech, Justice Arief explained Indonesia as a heterogeneous nation of various ethnicities, cultures, religions, and customs. He emphasized that a heterogeneous nation must uphold tolerance and the spirit of unity.
"We must not disparage one another. We must uphold good values, which are values of togetherness. Because we consist of various religions, races, cultures, and everything. However, if mismanaged, this country will fall apart," Justice Arief stated.
Justice Arief further explained that each country adopts different state principles. He cited the example of secularism in Turkey.
"In Turkey, religion and state affairs are separated. Although it is not explicitly stated that they use secularism, it is practiced there," he explained.
He emphasized that Indonesia does not separate religion from the state or base the state on a single religion. Instead, it synergizes the beliefs and faiths of the Indonesian people, elevating them to the principle of One Supreme God.
Meanwhile, Secretary-General Heru Setiawan, in his report, mentioned that the Constitutional Court consistently has a special program focusing on the supremacy of law and the Constitution. In implementing this program, the Court undertakes two important activities, namely through the judiciary and enhancing constitutional understanding, as demonstrated today.
He noted that the Constitutional Court has established MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) with various parties. The MoU with the Bung Karno Library Foundation is the 280th. The Foundation is the 67th partner to receive a smartboard from the Court.
Heru hoped the smartboard would be utilized effectively, as the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) will inspect it annually. Activities at the Museum will be shared with 67 universities and constitution villages equipped with smartboards.
“If Bung Karno Museum holds an event, it can be viewed by 67 universities and constitution villages, including its students,” Justice Heru explained.
Gus Marhaen, Chairman of the Bung Karno Foundation, stated that the smartboard is a valuable gift for anyone needing it for judicial practice. "The distance from Jakarta, especially the Constitutional Court, becomes close," he said.
He further explained the benefits of the smartboard, noting its usefulness for students and the general public wanting to access knowledge about constitutional law.
For information, the Museum Agung Bung Karno is a special museum owned and managed by the Bung Karno Library Foundation. The Foundation was established on June 1, 1990, by the Late Shri Wedastera Suyasa and continued by Gus Marhaen. Gus Marhaen later initiated the establishment of the Grand Library and Museum Agung Bung Karno.
