JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) received a prestigious award for archival supervision from the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI). The award was presented to the head of the General Affairs Bureau Elisabeth in Samarinda, East Kalimantan on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

The Court received the award as a state/non-structural agency, securing fourth place in the AA “Highly Satisfactory” category with a score of 90.73. This recognition was based on the 2023 archival supervision results.

The assessment covered various aspects of archival management, including policies, programs, records management, institutional framework, human resources, and facilities. According to the Regulation of the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister No. 30 of 2018 on guidelines for evaluating bureaucratic reform in government institutions, archival supervision is a key indicator in ANRI’s evaluation of bureaucratic reform.

Acting head of ANRI, Imam Gunarto, stated that the archival awards is an annual tradition. “In 2022, it was held in Riau. Last year, it took place in Banyuwangi and was very lively. This year, it is even more vibrant,” he remarked.

He emphasized that the chaos often experienced by a nation stems from a lack of historical awareness and a weak collective memory. This causes a nation to lose its sense of history, forget its origins, and be unsure of how to shape its future.

“Our collective memory is often fragmented across different eras. Historical sources like archives, manuscripts, and artifacts are sometimes insufficient to fully reconstruct the past and build a comprehensive collective memory. Our role in archiving is crucial to maintaining the continuity of government and state affairs,” stated Gunarto.

He added that amidst the chaos of general and regional elections, it is our duty to do cultural advancement through continuous archiving for the best future. “This is the spirit of the national archival coordination meeting and the celebration of the 53rd Archive Day that we hold today. Continuous archiving for the best future,” he concluded.
