JAKARTA (MKRI) —  The Constitutional Court (MK) has granted the withdrawal request from the National Mandate Party (PAN) regarding the nomination of candidates for the Provincial Legislative Council in the Electoral District (Dapil) DKI Jakarta 9. The Constitutional Justice stated that Case No 06-01-12-11/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 was withdrawn. The decree was read by the Chief Justice Suhartoyo, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024  in the Plenary Courtroom, Building 1 of the Constitutional Court Jakarta.

"Decreeing, granting the withdrawal of the petitioner’s petition," firmly stated the Chief Justice Suhartoyo, accompanied by the other constitutional justices.

Constitutional Justices Arief Hidayat stated, as per the Justices Deliberation Meeting (Rapat Permusyawaratan Hakim, RPH), the Court concluded that the request for withdrawal or cancellation of the case is legally justified and the Petitioner may not resubmit the same petition. The Constitutional Justices also ordered the Registrar of the Constitutional Court to return a copy of the application files to the Petitioner.

"Ordering the Registrar of the Constitutional Court to return a copy of the application files to the Petitioner," said Justice Arief Hidayat.

Previously, the Petitioner had alleged that there were fraudulent practices and/or violations that significantly harmed their vote acquisition for the nomination of provincial legislative members in DKI Jakarta 9, thereby benefiting the vote acquisition of other parties, including the National Awakening Party, Gerindra, Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Nasdem, Prosperous Justice Party, Democratic Party, and Perindo.(*)
