JAKARTA (MKRI) — The General Election Commission (KPU) stated that the National Democratic Party’s (NasDem) petition in four electoral districts (dapil) in the Papua Pegunungan Province is obscuur libel or unclear. The electoral districts in question are Papua Pegunungan, Nduga 1, Nduga 3, and Yahukimo 4. This was conveyed by Matheus Mamun Sare representing the KPU as the Respondent in response to the petition of the 2024 legislative election results dispute filed by NasDem to the Constitutional Court (MK).

“The petition’s subject matter, which does not mention in detail which polling stations (TPS) or which levels of recapitulation were detrimental to the Petitioner, is unclear or vague,” said Matheus Mamun Sare in the plenary courtroom on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

In addition, the KPU explained that not all areas in the Papua Pegunungan use the noken system. For example, polling stations in Dekai District of Yahukimo Regency, Wamena Village of Jayawijaya Regency, and Kobakma Village of Central Mamberamo Regency do not use the noken system as referred to in Chapter IV A points 1 and 2 of the KPU Decree No. 66 of 2024 concerning technical guidelines for the implementation of voting and vote counting in general elections.

The KPU said that NasDem’s votes in the DPR (House of Representatives) election in the Papua Pegunungan electoral district were 482,364, the highest among 18 political parties. Meanwhile, PDI-P (Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle) received 202,726 votes, PAN (National Mandate Party) received 189,105 votes, and PSI (Indonesian Solidarity Party) received 96,512 votes. The KPU denied NasDem’s claim of 563,339 votes.

Meanwhile, the Elections Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) stated that there were no reports and findings of violations in Papua Pegunungan Province, Yahukimo Regency, Lanny Jaya Regency, Yalimo Regency, or Nduga Regency. On the other hand, the three Relevant Parties in this case—PKN (Nusantara Awakening Party), PAN, and PDI-P—submitted their responses at today’s hearing.

In its petitum, the Petitioner requests the Court to cancel the KPU Decree No. 360 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 legislative election results of the DPR, DPD (Regional Representatives Council), and Provincial and Regency/City DPRD (Regional Legislative Council) announced nationwide on March 20, 2024 at 22:19 WIB insofar as the DPR election of Papua Pegunungan, DPRD election of Nduga Regency 1, 3, and DPRD election of Yahukimo Regency 4; to determine the correct vote acquisition results the DPR for Papua Pegunungan as follows: 187,780 votes and the third seat for NasDem; to restore the correct vote acquisition for the election of DPRD for Nduga Regency 1 with 9,044 votes for NasDem; to restore the correct vote acquisition for the DPRD election for Nduga Regency 3 with 2,198 votes for NasDem; to determine the correct vote acquisition results according to the Petitioner for the Papua Pegunungan DPR election as follows: 5,069 votes and the third seat for NasDem.
