JAKARTA (MKRI) — The Constitutional Court (MK) held hearing for the 2024 DPR/DPRD (House of Representatives/Regional Legislative Council) election results dispute on Wednesday, May 8 2024. The second session for Case No 214-01-14-21/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024, filed by the Democratic Party, was presided over by Panel 2–Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra along with Constitutional Justices Ridwan Mansyur and Arsul Sani.

However, as the hearing proceeded, neither the petitioner nor their legal counsel appeared in the courtroom of Panel 2 at the MK building in Jakarta. “Due to the absence of the petitioner, this will later be reported to the Judicial Deliberation Meeting (RPH) that the petitioner was absent, and the petition will be declared void,” stated Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra during the hearing.

For your information, the Democratic Party (Democrat) had filed a petition to annul the decision of the General Elections Commission (KPU) No 360 of 2024 concerning the Certification of Election Results for the President and Vice President, Members of the House of Representatives, Regional Representative Council, Provincial House of Representatives, and Regency/City House of Representatives nationally, which was announced on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, particularly regarding the filling of members of the Regency DPRD in Kapuas 1 to the Constitutional Court.

According to the petition submitted, the petitioner alleged instances of electoral fraud involving the misuse of voting rights by individuals not entitled to vote, employing manipulation of the additional final voters list (DPTb). This, according to the petitioner, occurred among other places in New Pulau Telo Village, Pulau Telo Village, and Selat Barat Urban Village. Additionally, the petitioner alleged fraud involving the elimination of voting rights through the manipulation of ballot usage.
