JAKARTA (MKRI) — The National Awakening Party (PKB) has filed a petition disputing 2024 election results dispute to the Constitutional Court (MK) for South Papua Province. The disputed results affect the seats acquisition for members of DPR (House of Representatives), Provincial and Regency/City DPRD (Regional Legislative Council) in the electoral district (dapil) of Asmat 3 of South Papua Province.
For the case No. 267-01-01-35/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024, the Petitioner’s legal counsel Subani said there were two KPU (General Elections Commission) plenary meetings at the regency level in Asmat Regency, with the first plenary taking place on Saturday, March 9, 2024. At the meeting, the Petitioner’s votes were announced to be 1,922 votes.
“The second meeting was held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 and resulted in the votes of each party as above and was signed by four commissioners of Asmat Regency, witnesses from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the National Democratic Party (NasDem), and the Indonesian People’s Wave Party (Gelora). At this second meeting, there was a reduction in [PKB’s] votes by 473 votes. It initially got 1,992 votes, which was reduced to 1,449 votes,” he said in front of the Chief Justice Suhartoyo.
The Petitioner argues that from the results of the second plenary meeting, there was an increase in NasDem’s votes by 373 votes; originally 424 votes, later changed to 797 votes. A similar thing occurred with the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), which received additional 100 votes, where it had received 896 votes in the first plenary, later changed to 996 votes.
In its petitum, the Petitioner requests to the Court to cancel the KPU Decree No. 360 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 legislative election results of the Asmat Regency DPRD for Asmat 3, and to certify the correct vote acquisition results according to the Petitioner’s version for the Asmat Regency DPRD for Asmat 3 electoral district: a total of 1,922 votes.
